I’m a design leader with 15+ years’ experience in uplifting teams and products.
I love tackling complex problems, going beyond what 'looks good', measuring outcomes for business and the users.
I am as comfortable on the tools as I am in the boardroom. I help align teams, stakeholders and executives.
Every teams and individuals need different nudges to deliver at their best. Thankfully, I'm multilingual.
I've built and led several teams across research, content and design. I directly managed up to 15 individual contributors and managers. Over the past 15 years, I've shipped 100+ products, helping organisations grow through cross-functional collaboration, design systems and efficient processes.
Since 2020, I have been managing the team of product designers who created the Workforce Australia digital platform. Even though I've grown the team from 3 to 15 staffs, my current focus is on maturing our design system to support different brands and products at the enterprise-level.
I am most energised by solving complex problems and making life better for large numbers of people. I am looking to help a start-up, scale-up or established product organisation by creating or scaling a design practice and working across management and engineering to deliver some measurable outcomes.
Being based in Canberra, Australia, I work Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT). That said, I'm always happy to travel or help out in emergencies, no matter the hour.
I've co-founded a business employing over 30 people. Over the last 15 years, I've personally created, led and scaled 4 different design teams. Yet, my managerial skills are still very much evolving maturing... like a fine wine?
My style is shaped by the work of authors such as Kim Scott (Radical Candor), Julie Zhuo (The Making of a Manager), Joost Minnaar and Pim de Morree (Corporate Rebels: Make Work More Fun), Marty Cagan (Inspired: How to Create Tech Products Customers Love), Mark Rabkin and Simon Sinek.
At the end of the day, management is all about sharing an inspiring purpose, having the right people and efficient processes.
Although I am currently contracted till the end of the 2022-2023 financial year, I can make myself available within 2 weeks for the right role.
I must confess... I don't have a design process! Between Lean UX, Agile UX, design thinking, the double diamond, honeycomb, the Fogg behaviour model, BASIC framework, and many more... it depends on the context, including your organisation's maturity, the problem(s) to be solved, the user needs, the resources available, etc.
Send me an email to discuss what would work best for you!
Measurable outcomes. Good metrics often start with customer adoption, satisfaction, task success, engagement, or cost per transaction. Yet, it all depends on your business goals and user needs. There are a number of frameworks such as the System Usability Scale that can help understand product performance and I'm happy to help with that.
Since it takes time and effort from others, all feedback is a gift! It shows people care about their relationship with me, which always makes me grateful. Introspection and feedback are the only ways to grow, as a person and as a leader. That’s why I love and ask for feedback all the time, from everyone, no matter what is said and how it makes me feel.
Since you've read this far, would you be so kind to share your thoughts and advice about my work, this portfolio or any aspect of our relationship?
